My Story

After spending years stressing about food and feeling uncomfortable in my body, I want to be the guide I wish I had when I was struggling.

I used to prioritize dieting over living.

Going out to eat meant I had to look up the menu beforehand to find the lowest calorie option.

Holidays meant I had to wake up early to exercise and skip meals to compensate for extra calories.

There were always rules or limits to keep myself "in control" around sweets.

Events involving food were sources of stress. Joy and making memories were put on the back burner.

It sucked the life out of me.

When I discovered Intuitive Eating...

I finally began giving myself unconditional permission to eat and slowly started healing my relationship with food. This was a slowww process.

A big aspect of this journey was unlearning the diet thoughts that had been ingrained in me at a young age. By sitting with the uncomfortable emotions and showing my brain that there was an alternative to dieting - I built a much healthier relationship with food and my body.

I am still not perfect. (Yes I still get diet thoughts too! they are just less frequent and less overwhelming) Diet culture is everywhere, so your relationship with food and your body will always be a work in progress.

But the joy, peace, & freedom you gain from doing the work is well worth it.

My Philosophy

Most of us learn at a young age that weight = health (including myself). Being worthy, beautiful, and liked meant being thin.

When someone says they are trying to “get healthy,” it translates to trying to lose weight. If we dislike how we look, our first thought is to change how we look rather than turning inward and asking ourselves why?

The truth is... our weight does not dictate our health or our worth. We can be healthy without diets. We can respect our bodies without trying to change them.

Instead, we are made to believe that we are the problem, when we are actually just fighting our bodies. We are given an unrealistic expectation and when we don’t fit the (impossible) mold, we are told it's our fault.

Your Body Is Not the problem. your body is not the problem. your body is not the problem. your body is not the problem.

Health should not come at the expense of living your life.

Your mental, emotional, and social health are just as important as your physical health.

You can go out for pizza with your family AND still be healthy.

You can eat dessert everyday AND still be healthy.

You can skip a workout AND still be healthy.

You can have a BMI >25 AND still be healthy.

Start taking a holistic approach to nutrition

When you let go of the diet mentality, you can truly start honoring your body and living the life you want to live. Nutrition is not one size fits all. I believe in finding the behaviors and approaches that work best for you and your body.

If you are not quite ready to let go of the desire to lose weight - that's okay too! We live in a very weight centric world, it can feel impossible to not want to lose weight. We can talk through these desires to figure out what is best for you and your health.

In a judgement free zone.
